Send out the morning birds to sing of the damage
name;; Vaida Jo Prince
nicknames;; Pretty sure Vaida's unique enough all by itself
age//birthday;; twenty/03.23
class;; worker
sexual orientation;; heterosexual
Now that the calm's returned I know I can't manage
hair;; Vaida recently chopped off all her hair. It's now short, not hanging any longer than past her ears, with blonde chunks and streaks in her formerly brunette hair. It used to be thicker, but some thinning shears and a straightening iron can work wonders.
eyes;; She has dark, soft brown eyes. They aren't the flat, poop-coloured brown that some folks have, there's a depth to them, and she likes it.
body;; Slim
height/weight;; 5'3"/102
distinguishing features;; Two holes in the lobe of each ear, a tattoo of a tree on her lower back made up of lines from Walt Whitman's poetry.
your twin? Keira Knightley
put it all together and what do you get?
Vaida is, in a word, a tiny woman. She outgrew her classmates in fourth grade and never made it more than a few inches taller. In middle and high school, she got teased endlessly, and called down to the counselor's office on a number of occasions, "just to see if she had anything she wanted to talk about...body image, concerns, maybe?" Her family never put much stock in the schools' concerns, mostly because they were there when she was inhaling everything in sight. The Mollolly women were all tiny, and nobody in the Prince family had ever been huge...her petiteness was expected, as was her fine bone structure. With high cheeks, a straight nost, and full, pouty lips, she was the ideal child model, the image of a porcelain doll.
If she allowed it to, the image would have stayed with her always - chocolate brown hair and eyes and pale skin added to her delicacy. She hated the image, though, and did what she could to offset it by dressing aggressively. She recently cut and coloured her hair in a way which, while just making her look more Tinkerbelle than Belle, was at least a change. Generally, she wears a bit of eyeliner and clear lipgloss at most.
You're standing in my doorway though he's asleep in my bed
likes;; cooking food, consuming food, alchohol (not in a drunken way - she's a connoisseur), anything alive and fluffy, children, fencing, dancing, sex (what? it's fun!), Walt Whitman poetry, Shakespeare, Dr. Seuss books, bright red toenails.
dislikes;; hunting, broccoli casserole, being referred to as "cute", being called "little lady", people who comment on her body in anything but a positive way, nosey people, warm water (drinking, she bathes in it, obviously), having to take her second set of earrings out for work, having to keep polish off her nails for work, corrective lenses (she's supposed to wear glasses or contacts, but she never does), classical music (though she makes an exception for Clair de Lune when it's snowing).
fears;; the dark (honest to God), ghosts and the supernatural
strengths;; she's very straightforward and assertive - she knows what she wants and how to get it. She's also very practical, and does well in high-stress situations.
weaknesses;; she can seem cold if you catch her at the wrong time. While she speaks freely, she has a hard time asking for help when she needs it. She has a bit of a Napoleon complex. She's a sucker for poetry.
put it all together and what do you get?
Vaida is, above all, a very practical, efficient person, and part of being both practical and efficient is her ability to compartmentalise herself. She brings whatever qualities will help in a given situation along and leaves the rest behind, which means that people who know her from different settings get a very different picture about what kind of woman she is. She was at the top of her class in school, and what she didn't have in raw brainpower she made up for in organisation and hard work. She was the student that turned in a draft of the final paper two weeks ahead of time to get suggestions and make revisions, the student who copied a careful list of who cheated on the test when the teacher was out and surreptitiously dropped it on her desk so their scores wouldn't kill the curve. She is the same way in business and other "serious" parts of life - ruthless, practical, and very, very good at doing precisely what she needs to get where she wants to be.
She is equally good at organising her fun time to allow for as much enjoyment as possible. She enjoyed showing off her body, and she enjoyed making money, so she chose jobs that let her do both. She chose to bartend on the boat because she could make ridiculous amounts of tips by unbuttoning a button or two, and see the world at the same time. She enjoys sex, so when the occasion arises, she isn't averse to a little roll in the hay, as long as they're both very clear on where they've been and where they plan on going afterwards. (She can think about sex like a guy, sure - it's fun, it's exercise, it releases endorphins. Lots of people, however, make the mistake of thinking that she views it in only this way. That isn't really true - at heart, Vaida's a romantic, and while she uses her body as she will, she's saving something inside for one special person, if ever he comes along.)
Though she's a difficult person to get to know - she doesn't tend to talk about herself a great deal, especially with any real depth, unless the person she's talking to has some reason for knowing - she isn't hard to talk to. Her acidic, bone-dry sense of humour appeals greatly to certain people, and surprising the occasional giggle out of her is a mission many have felt bound to undertake. Once her loyalty is won, it's maintained indefinitely.
The steady murmur always in my head
Your Mother;; Viola Mollolly-Prince, 42, homemaker
Your Father;; Zachary Prince, 45, Professor of Sociology
Those Crying Babies;; Vera Leigh, 18, Titus James, 16, Kevin Harper, 15
Those Bossy Older Ones;; None.
Anyone Else?;; Grandparents Joseph and Victoria Mollolly
Hometown;; London, England
And then your sob story;;
Vaida was planned well and thoroughly, to be born after her mother graduated from University and her father finished his Masters' degree. She wonders, every now and again, if the rigorous preparation for her birth was what gave her the personality she has today. She knows that it gave her the lifestyle she enjoyed as a child, running amok in a home full of books and witty conversation, with weekly lessons in music and Spanish and French and ballet in addition to her studies at the best private school money could buy. In spite of the structure of her home, it was inevitable that Vaida would fall into the Mollolly womens' lifestyle - she had the V name and the build, and as soon as she was old enough, her mother saw to it that she had the child modeling opportunities, putting the money away for when she was older. With her small frame and tiny breasts, Vaida was able to keep herself in the childrens' market almost a third of the way through high school, especially as she was so much more focused and competent than actual children.
To Vaida's parents, the modeling was just another endeavour to allow her to stretch herself. To Vaida, growing up in a home rich in academics but lacking in physical affection, and coming from a background where her mind was praised and body chastised at school, it was a saving grace. She was more upset than she would allow herself to admit when she finally gave it up "to focus on school." The truth was, Vaida hated school - she didn't care for being told what to do, or what to learn, or when to learn it. She preferred to direct herself, and did so when she could, picking up non-academic hobbies like cooking in her grandparents' restaurant. One day, a guest speaker at her girls' school railed against gentlemens' clubs, where women danced nearly naked and men paid to see. To Vaida, it sounded like heaven, and the bit of money she made at the restaurant was sufficient to proffer a fake ID to get her an interview at one. A glance, and a more...hands on examination with the owner was enough to get her a position - paid under the counter.
Though she never told her parents what her new job was, and they respected her privacy enough not to ask, Vaida loved stripping. She felt beautiful, and wanted, and she liked the dancing and having her pick of men to take into a private room and extract a few more dollars from. The money, of course, was astounding, and she put it away. At night, she kept careful notes - what worked well in the establishment, what didn't. She was there most night even when she wasn't working, and Sal, the barman, taught her how to mix drinks like a pro. It didn't take long to form her plan - when she "grew up," she would open her own dance club and bar, but avoid the seedy reputation. So, after high school, she went to school and took enough business classes to teach her precisely what she needed to know, then announced to her parents her intentions to drop out of school, work for a while, and open a business.
This caused quite a stir in the Prince household - she was finishing school, they calmly explained, or she wouldn't see a dime of her modeling money or theirs until they died or she made it on her own. Incensed, Vaida left, picked up a bartending job with a cruise company scrambling for employees, and left the country without another word. After all, she still needed experience with the bar and restaurant side of her business, and where better to get it than on the open seas?
You're the finest thing that I've done the hurricane I'll never outrun

Zel chuckled.
"Got it, thanks. I'm in Forsters. It seems alright - I've never really been away from home, back in the States I went to school during the day and came home at night, so that's really nice," he admitted. He listened as she explained the rivalries, an eyebrow raising.
"Why don't they like each other? Is there a story there, or just kids being kids?" he wondered, imitating an old man at the end. A thought struck, and he grinned mischeviously.
"Which one are you in? Ever pulled any legendary pranks?" He thought she might be the prank-pulling kind. She was pretty, but a tossed-together, sure let's go mudwrestling 'cause I can get this look back in 20 minutes kind of pretty. Of course, he didn't know her yet. She lobbed a question at him, and his smile turned a touch cocky, offsetting the slight insecurity in his words.
"Not on a team or anything. I, ah, dance. You know, ballet, tap, jazz. I'm actually hoping I can find a studio around here - I feel my body beginning to atrophy already," he laughed. "What about you? Play any, watch any, whatever?"
